Two journals in one day
So I was watching these two way surreal videos by buzzfeed video, and they brought up a few points that as a lover of history, I couldn't help to but to have my mind blown a little.
Here are some of the things they brought up:
Cleopatra actually lived closer to our time period then the time period the Pyramids were built
Oxford University was built before the Aztecs came about
France stopped using the guillotine the same year Star Wars episode IV came out (1977)
Mammoths went extinct a thousand years after the the building of the Pyramids (meaning that Cleopatra lived even closer to them then to us!)
The last time the Chicago Cubs (baseball team) won the World Series (most poorly named series ever), the Ottoman Empire was still a thing
Thinking about that, I couldn't help but to think of other historical things we consider to be from completely different eras that actually occurred at the same time. For example, when the US first gained independence, the Holy Roman Empire was still around; The last successor to the Mongol Empire, died during the Russian Revolution (Emirate of Bukhara, died 1920). Any other historical oddities you can think of?

Probably Leaving
So, Deviantart Eclipse has been out and forced upon us for half a year now. I knew from the moment I saw it, I would hate it, but over the course of the last few months, I noticed just how much it's been effecting how much I actually use the site, which is much less than usual. I'm posting this to formally let you know that from now on, my activity on this site will be limited to uploading stuff, and maybe replying to comments, and not much more. The 10th anniversary of me joining the site is coming up here soon, and I may make something about that, since I consider the day that I joined here such an important moment in my life.
On Inactivity
Hey y'all, it's been a while since I've made a journal entry, ever since I learned how to make status updates and the like.
I just wanted to post on why I've been so inactive the last couple months. This is probably the most inactive I've ever been since joining this site. I've mentioned some of these in status updates, but there's also a couple more.
1) School: Although I'm temporarily on break from school for Christmas break, in general College has kept from working large scale on stuff.
2) Work: Generally, I don't really work all that much, but what school I wasn't doing in Christmas I ended up working instead.
3) Familial and Friend o
Went on an Adventure VII
Just because it's been nearly a year since the last adventure, I'll say the joke: "The Adventure Awakens."
Today I finally went to New Ulm (named after Neu-Ulm, Bavaria. Weird), AKA: The most German town in Minnesota, a trip I've wanted to do since I started doing these adventures. Also went to the much smaller Hanska, AKA: The most Norwegian town in Minnesota, but there really wasn't much to see there except the graves of some of my ancestors. Back in New Ulm I saw the Hermann Heights Monument, or Hermann the German. A pretty awesome monument, a monument I could have practically touched had I the nerve to go on to the top balcony. I also sa
Eclipse and School
So, the Great American Eclipse is going on right now.
There's clouds in the way, and they're not going to move.
Damn it.
It's not like we were going to get a full eclipse anyways (I believe it peaked out to like 85% here), but it would have still been nice to see a partial eclipse.
Anyways, in about 2 and a half hours, I'm heading back to College, which is probably going to eat away a good amount of my free time (not to mention work on top of that, and IRL friend and family obligations). Probably going to leave me with about 1 free day to work on my own stuff (which, knowing myself, will consist mostly of procrastination).
