Empire of Georgia

One of the most cliche alternate histories, although also one of the most interesting.

So our story begins after the Seven Years' War. Great Britain starts taxing the people of her Colonies, making the people understandably upset. But unlike in OTL, the people blame not the King, George III, but rather the Parliament and the people want to end the parliament. Staunch Republicanists in OTL, such as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and George Washington, become, by sheer will of the people, Monarchists (way to take the most Communist line ever and tack Monarchism to it).

In 1775, the people of the Colonies start the revolt against Parliment, but the Motherland fights back ferociously. By the next year, the Colonists decide there's no way to to repair the wound, and declare the Confederation of American Kingdoms. France, Spain, and the Netherlands join the war alongside the Americans against their age-old enemy of Great Britain. In 1780, the decisive battle was won by the Coalition Franco-Spanish-Dutch ships (with the entire American Navy, a single ship, also joining the battle) in the Battle of Two Whales, destroying British Dominance over the Seas. With Britain unable to send recruits over to the Colonies, she sues for peace.

America gained the same land as in OTL. Britain also lost Gibraltar back to Spain along with many of her Caribbean (including Florida) and Indian possessions to Spain and France respectively, and Spain would return the Louisiana Territory west of the Mississippi to France.

Thus, with Independence secure, the Confederation starts her process of building a new nation. In the initial stages, there were two major political parties, known official as the Imperialists and the Ducals, although better known as the Frenchists (Imperialists) and Germanists (Ducals). The Frenchists wanted a more united nation under the American Emperor, pointing to France's strength and economic power (in which the Germanists proceeded to laugh in their face, since France still ends up broke, although not as bad as OTL). The Germanists wanted a looser nation, based around the Holy Roman Empire, where there was an emperor however weak. They also wanted the Emperor to be elected by the Kings.

When all was set and done, the Germanists won and the constitution was built around their favour. Also written into the constitution was that there was to be only 13 kingdoms, the 13 origional colonies. Over the next many years, this would be amended 5 times to add 8 new kingdoms.

On the otherside of the world, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth sees the rise in America, and there was a major uproar from the lowest tiers and the Highest to tear down the Sejm, which was successfully done in 1787. With support of Prussia and Austria, who had slowly grown fearful of Russia's Power, the Commonwealth invaded Russia and won, taking back much of their former territory in Russia. But this was only the first of the Polish Revanchist Wars. Next up was Prussia, with help of Austria, still upset about Prussia taking Silesia, and then Austria. But even still, the Commonwealth wasn't done.

For the next 20 years, Europe would be locked in the Polish Revanchist Wars. America, seeing how easily the Holy Roman Empire was destroyed, sought to further centralize their state. A huge support for the Frenchists occured, and America successfully centralized in 1806 with the adoption of the Parchment of the Empire, officially recreating the Confederation of American Kingdoms into the Empire of Georgia (after George Washington).

In 1805, France was invaded by the Poles. France went through what they call "L'Apogée," The Climax, a long, hard fought war with the Poles. In the Louisiana, the local viceroys and governors started their movement for independence. The Governor of the Louisiana together with the richest merchants and founders of Saint Louis, the Chouteaus, came to an agreement to declare an interdependent Dual Kingdoms, Louisiana and Missouri (Missouri was later split into Missouri and The Kansas). They sued for their independence, and France, being a bit occupied by the Poles, reluctantly agrees. In 1809 Louisiana, Missouri, and The Kansas was peacefully annexed into the Georgian Empire. France eventually wins L'Apogée, but Louisiana gets annexed by Georgia before they could return. This dampens Franco-Georgian relations. A change in the Georgian constitution allows the creation of three more kingdoms in the Georgian Empire

In the 1830's, the Latin American countries declare independence from their overlords. Not even ten years later, the Texans were up in arms against Mexico. Texas again was able to beat back the Mexicans and make their own republic. But only three year after their independence, they were at war again as Spain came back to start reclaiming her colonies.

Texas pleaded to Georgia for help, but they agreed only upon one condition: Texas abolishes the republic and becomes a monarchy to be annexed by the Georgian Empire. Texas reluctantly agreed, and in the Spanish-Georgian war Georgia beat the Spanish back off the continent, taking Florida with it, annexes into Edwardia. Texas then crown Sam Housten as King and agreed to subjugation by the Georgian Emperor, and another change in the constitution allows the addition of Texas

This war was immediately followed by another, The Mexican-Georgian War. Mexico still claimed most of Texas and Texas claimed large amounts of Mexico. While Mexico could simply pretend Texas didn't exist, with Georgians now walking around, they couldn't anymore and declared war. Georgia swiftly defeated Mexico, and took the same land as OTL. The Emperor again altered the constitution, making the newly acquired territory as their own kingdom of California.

Only a couple of years later, the final Continental Kingdom was created, taking territory of Oregon, which was owned by no kingdom but by the Empire itself, turning it into the Kingdom of Oregon.

Thus brings us to 1860. And this was the decade that shook America to it's roots. While in OTL, the American Civil War was caused almost entirely by arguments over slavery, ITTL, it was a growing sense of Republicanism. The people started to feel too left out of their government, and they wanted more power. In 1861, a republicanist revolt broke out in Massachusetts. While many such revolts came and went, this was different because the Army now joined, overthrowing the King of Massachusetts. Soon, the Army of the Republic marched on New Hampshire, Rhodes Island, Connecticut, marching further south and west. The Emperor tried to get his people to further fight the Republican forces, but the nation was split decisively. Many in the Northeast and now the Southwest wanted to turn the Empire of Georgia into a Republic, while the South and Center wanted to stay a Monarchy. Six years of war followed, before finally the Emperor agreed to form new democratic offices. At the local level (such as Baronies, Counties, and Duchies) there was one parliament elected by the people, while at the National level (such as Kingdoms and Imperial) there were two parliaments: Parliament of Plebeians (publicly elected) and Parliament of Aristocrats (appointed by nobles from top to bottom; Barons, Counts, and Dukes (and Kings at Imperial Parliament) all got represented).

There came three new parties for these parliaments: Conservative, Liberal (much like Republican and Democratic parties in the US) and a party known popularly as the Kings' Party, although they have no official name. The Kings' Party acts as the ruling noble in the parliament (such as if it was Kingdom's parliament, they would represent the King) and is obliged to vote for what the Ruling Noble wants. If it's a popular (let's just say) Emperor, then the Parliament would be made up of upwards of 60% Kings' Party, while if it's an unpopular Emperor, there may be only 10-5% Kings' Party.

But now we reach the 1870's. Over in Europe, Germany and Italy have unified, at the cost of Poland (who remains independent after the Revanchist Wars) and France losing their pride. In the Americas, Russia hopes to shake loose the burden of Alaska in hopes of looking to richer territories in China. They sell the territory to Georgia, who then places a cousin of the Emperor upon it's throne in a new Kingdom. In Hawaii, the already Monarchial state is being placed more and more under American influence, before finally being out right subjucated.

And now it's 1900, with the threat of World War over the horizon, with Germany, Italy, and Russia on one side and Poland, France, and Great Britain on the other. Georgia has set up colonies (Archduchies) across the Pacific and to a lesser extent Africa and South America. Now the War that destroyed Monarchies is about to come.

Where am I in this world by 2015? Assuming America is still a monarchy, me and my ancestors were the same, I'd probably be a minor noble in Northern Kingdom of Missouri, along the border of Western New Yorkshire
